Virginia Watkins

I completed my post-graduate studies in Nutrition Education at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA. While an undergraduate at Duke University, I studied French cooking in Montpellier, France, continuing an early fascination with food. In 1996, I began working at the American Institute of Wine & Food in San Francisco; I helped create and manage projects ranging from ingredient tastings to a children’s garden project. Subsequently, I spent seven years working for Niman Ranch, the leading brand in the sustainable meat industry working closely with customers such as Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. I am also the mother of a two well-fed boys, ages one and four.

In addition to working one-on one with families and individuals, I speak to my local community, coach moms through a recurring 6-week workshop on nutrition and wellness, and teach cooking classes to adults and pre-schoolers.

When you learn that you or your child has a food allergy, as I did with my younger son, it is natural to wonder, how should our eating change? I love working with families, helping them learn which foods are safe and delicious.

Once a month, I will answer your questions through the Live Free Foods Blog.  Please submit your questions to me at virginia@livefreefoods.com
